日本には1960年代から1980年代前半にかけて、急速に発展したニュータウンという都市の形がある。それは近代化に伴って、私たちの暮らしをいかに便利で快適な暮らしにするかということを個人住宅の単位のみではなく、街全体で考えていく当時としては新しい理念に基づいている。 

In Japan, There is a city form called new town which was rapidly developed from the 1960s to first half of the 1980s. It is based on an idea new at that time which considers what it carries out our life with a convenient and comfortable life with modernization not only in the unit of an individual residence, but in the whole town.

目の前にあるものが確かに「存在する」ことを確認しようとするとき、人間は視覚、聴覚、嗅覚、触覚、味覚のあらゆる五感を使う。中でも「触覚」というのは、揺ぎ無い存在感を感じることができる感覚ではないか。

 To confirm that it something in front actually exists, man uses all senses : sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.
I think that we can truly feel its existence by ‘touching’ it.

器には、何かを“受ける、満たす、蓄える、取り出す”といったような機能がある。つまり、器は本来の目的を器のみで果たすことはできない。器を考えるときには、あらかじめそこに“何ものか”を想定し、それとの関係の上で考えていく必要がある。

The vessel has some functions "receive something, fill it with something, or keep something in it and so on."That is the vessel can't achieve the objective by itself.When we think of a vessel we always associate something with it.
